Where Colors and Materials
Tell the Story

The colours of the mountains are deeply connected to nature. Green — the favourite colour of Omanis — symbolises life and abundance. Yellow ochre links the windows to the surrounding mountain range, while blue opens them to the sky. This sense of harmony is what we wanted to reflect in the renovation of the house and the creation of its atmosphere. The family once used ornamentation in their interiors, and we’ve brought those elements into our design as quiet memories from the past.

Room by Room
Staying at ALABRI HOME is more than rest — it’s a quiet dialogue with a historic mountain house that still breathes with memory.
Built on several levels, the rooms follow traditional Omani architecture, connected by stone steps that lead you between the house — just as villagers once moved between spaces in daily life. Each room is different in shape, size, and feeling — from intimate single cave rooms to spacious family lounges. All have been lovingly restored to reflect the soul of the home. This is comfort woven into heritage. This is design that speaks the language of place. Choose your room — and step into a story.

AL WuSTA ROOM

Al Wusta room - Heart of the Home.
Once the center of family life, Al Wusta—meaning “the middle room” in Arabic—is one of the oldest and most charming spaces in the house. It once sheltered mother Salima and her children, the roots of the Al Abri legacy you’ll still feel today. Perfect for two guests, the room features original stone details, ornate ceilings, and small heritage windows that frame a unique view. Located right by the reception, it offers easy, stair-free access and timeless character.

DATES CAVE

Ideal for solo travelers or adventurous spirits, it offers easy access and a snug, grounding retreat in the heart of tradition.

THABIT CAVE

AL SABAH ROOM

Al Sabah Suite – Where the Family Gathered
Once the heart of daily life for father Ali, his second wife, and their children, this spacious two-room suite offered both rest and togetherness. Named Al Sabah, or “the living room” in old dialect, it now welcomes small families with its generous lounge area, serene mountain views, and nearby private terrace. Ground-floor location ensures easy, stair-free access.

DREAM ROOM

The Old Kitchen – A DREAM Reimagined in Stone
Once the home’s kitchen over a century ago, this room saw bread baked on open flames and stories rise with the smoke. Rebuilt within its original stone boundaries, it now brings a new kind of warmth—a DREAM space for couples seeking heritage and heart. With its unique details and easy ground-floor access, it also pairs beautifully with the nearby Al Sabah Suite for families or friends traveling together.

milk room

The MILK Room – A Farmhouse Dream Reborn
Over 120 years ago, this space was the family’s cherished cow barn—where fresh milk became laban, a favorite drink for the children. Today, The Milk Room is a perfect retreat for families with children, featuring a loft bed designed in heritage style, offering a unique blend of tradition and comfort. With stunning mountain views, a private terrace, and easy access with just a few steps, it invites you to step into a timeless farmhouse dream, where new memories meet the charm of the past.

Step outside to your private terrace for an even closer connection to nature. Originally shared by Rashid and his young family, it now comfortably accommodates two guests. A few steps lead you to easy access to the reception and bathroom, with the café just a short walk away.

Abdullah ROOM

Abdullah’s Room – Spacious Comfort with Nature’s Views
Once reserved for Abdullah, the eldest brother, this room became a communal space for the Al Abri family after they moved to Rustaq. With its thick, cooling walls, it offered a refreshing escape during summer months. Today, it stands as one of the most beautiful and spacious rooms on the property, designed with a natural philosophy that harmonizes with the surroundings. The organic materials and earthy tones evoke a sense of calm, while the expansive windows frame breathtaking views of the nature outside. A few steps up, and you’re immersed in both comfort and the serene beauty of the landscape—perfect for families seeking both space and tranquility.

Moosa room

Moosa’s Room – Tradition Meets Modern Comfort
The last of the Al Abri brothers to live in this room, Moosa chose the highest point of the house for his family, combining the timeless charm of the home with the comfort of modern technology, like air conditioning. Surrounded by stunning natural beauty, the private terrace offers sweeping views of the entire village. Inside, the room’s design seamlessly blends traditional elements with contemporary style, offering both elegance and comfort. A few stairs lead you to this elevated retreat, where breathtaking views and thoughtful design decisions create a perfect escape. The attached bathroom is conveniently located just outside the room.

STAR ROOM

Star Room – For the Guest as Special as the Sky Above
Welcome to the Star Room – the newest addition to the house, and at the same time, its most meaningful. Created for those who seek quiet brilliance and deep connection, this room is a tribute to the stars above and the legacy within.
Though newly built, the Star Room holds the soul of the past. Every wooden detail – even the smallest ones – was carefully salvaged from the original family home and woven into the design. This harmony of old and new reflects the essence of wabi-sabi philosophy: beauty found in imperfection, time, and simplicity.
Inside, you’ll find a private herbal spa bath infused with wild Wajmah herbs that calm the senses. Step outside onto the vast rooftop terrace – a private observatory open to the sky. Surrounded by natural silence and infinite stars, you can lounge, dream, or even sleep under the open heavens.
Star Room is more than just a room. It’s a conversation between time and space, a quiet celebration of nature, memory, and the special guest who enters its orbit – you.

Separate bathrooms in the spirit of traditional
Omani villages

Following traditional Omani architecture, the rooms are spread across several levels of the property and connected by stairs to external bathrooms — a distinctive feature that gives this house its unique charm.
As was customary in old village homes, bathrooms are located outside the rooms. Some are private (though still external), while others are shared between two rooms.
These open-air bathrooms are more than practical — they are places of special energy, deeply connected to nature. Experience the comfort of fresh air, silence, and simplicity in ALABRI HOME’s cozy, thoughtfully designed bathing spaces.
Enjoy a stay that brings you closer to nature, offering peaceful comfort shaped by the soul and history of the house.
