The story of the village of the 5 elements

For many years, in the back of the magnificent Sun Mountain, in a village that spans centuries, lived several old, large families. Omani frugality, preserving a deep harmony with nature that is deeply cherished and passed on to future generations. The terraces were continuously green, the trees bloomed and blossomed in abundance, and the hill offered the freshness of a cliff. It was a special and truly mystical place in the countryside, ideal for hiding from the heat, refreshing oneself and being with oneself. Every morning, the Sun Mountain generously gave freshness, light and life to the village. In the evenings, the sun would take on a brownish hue, the mountains would turn orange and the shadows receding from them would reveal their beauty. It was a gentle, quiet evening, and all eyes were on the sky, where the brightest stars shone as if within reach. The village grew up with happy children and the inhabitants lived in heartfelt gratitude.

But one fateful day, the lost heart of one villager began to yearn for more. The bounty of the mountain became too little in the eyes of the pretentious young man, and despite the warning of his wise elders, he challenged the mountain, demanding more lush greenery and more abundant waterfalls. The boy's unprecedented greed so enraged the mountain that it sent a curse on the village... The time of storms and heavy rains came. The stars went out, and so did people's eyes, the moon faded away, as did the joy of life that had been flowing through the veins for years, and finally the beautiful waterfall that had brought life to the village stopped flowing. There was no more room for love, flow and faith as the people lost hope and left their beloved village with great sadness. For the next 20 years, they kept coming back, hoping for a miracle - to find their home village blossoming again in abundance and the water returning to the village. But time and time again they were disappointed.

Until one hot August day many years later, when strangers wandered in - a family who had left their homeland because the call of the magic of faraway lands had become louder than their own heartbeats.... Tired of the oppressive heat, they stopped for refreshment at the fountain of life on the Sun Mountain, which since the curse has been gushing forth only tiny, rare drops of water. What they felt could be called magic: they smelled the silence, saw the warmth evaporating from the mountains, heard the taste of the fruit trees and herbs growing on the slopes of the mountains, felt the water dropping as if the waterfall was inside them and they were in it. In that magical moment of synaesthesia, all five senses merged into a single sensation that pierced like a sharp Omani dagger.

Immediately they knew that their wanderings were over, because they had arrived home. And then what the Sun Mountain and its inhabitants had been waiting and praying for so long happened... the travellers decided to bring the village back to life. By combining the five elements that had been languishing here, they recorded their enduring love for the village's history and the majesty of nature. It was time again for harmony, abundance, flow and life. The stars have come out again over the village of Wajmah....

The stars reappeared over the village of Wajmah and shone brightly with the special sound of a star called

WAJMAH.
